Steve Brown - Classical Music Host
E-mail: BrownS@vt.edu
Steve Brown is a familiar face to area residents. Theater goers from the New River Valley and Roanoke may have seen Steve in many productions, including Tevye in "Fiddler On The Roof," Buffalo Bill in "Annie Get Your Gun," and the title character in "The Man Who Came To Dinner." He has also written the book, music, lyrics and orchestrations for musicals ("The Prisoner Of Zenda" and "Road To Paradise"), and written straight plays ("Seance On A Dark Afternoon"). He is Composer in Residence and Principal Guest Conductor for the Blacksburg Community Band, is a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, and has been on Jeopardy! three different times.
Steve is (obviously) a strong advocate of culture in the community, and feels very strongly that you can judge a community by their support to the arts. One of the reasons he settled in Southwest Virginia after his military retirement (a retirement in name only, obviously) was because of the strong support of arts and artists throughout the area.
