The Virginia Department of Education recently released new "on-time" graduation rates for public school divisions across the state. They used a new way of computing the rates which they say is more accurate, but there is still confusion about how to interpret them, and how to determine the dropout rate. High schools in Roanoke and Lynchburg came in lower than the state graduation rate, but as urban schools they also face special challenges. We'll discuss what programs are in place to improve their rates with representatives from both school divisions on Evening Edition Tuesday at 7:30 on WVTF (and again Saturday/Sunday at 7:00 PM on our news station Radio IQ).
