Henrico Police Investigating Delegate Joe Morrissey

A lawyer claims that there's "no story here," but Henrico County Police are digging deeper into allegations that a high-profile member of the House of Delegates had inappropriate ties to a 17-year-old girl.

While the attorney for the girl's mother says news reports are terribly misleading, the girl's father felt there was reason to call the police when she went to Delegate Joe Morrissey’s home.

Attorney Rob Walker says the young lady, who is a part-time receptionist for Morrissey's law firm, went to his home last week to discuss a “sensitive and personal legal matter” with the Delegate:

But news reports say Henrico police confiscated the girl's cell phone and, according to the search warrant, are looking for evidence regarding allegations of "taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in custodial or supervisor relationship.” Morrissey, also known as "Fighting Joe" Morrissey, has had legal problems before and had his law license suspended and ultimately restored.  He recently returned to practice and has been a very vocal member of the General Assembly on issues such as gun control in Virginia.
