You may designate your donation for WVTF's General Operating Fund, New Building Fund, or Endowment Fund.
The General Operating Fund is used to pay for everyday expenses, including programming costs, maintenance fees on its transmitters and buildings, and general operation costs.
The Building Fund was established in February 2000. In May 2003, WVTF moved into its new 12,000-square-foot facility, after dramatically outgrowing its 4,000-square-foot studios in the Grand Pavilion. A major component of the new station is Production Studio A, which is used to host live and recorded programs featuring musicians and other performers, as well as public affairs programs. The new building, with state-of-the-art equipment, allows WVTF the opportunity to offer more and better programs to listeners.
In July 2003, WVTF launched its Donor Brick Campaign and is selling engraved bricks to be placed along the walkway of our new studios. For more information about the campaign, click here.
The Endowment Fund is a separate fund that is invested by WVTF's licensee, the Virginia Tech Foundation, with the investment goal of equity growth. As this fund grows in size, it will eventually be large enough to produce a steady stream of income large enough to contribute substantially to WVTF's operating budget. At present, WVTF is not using any of the Endowment money and all income from dividends and interest in being reinvested by the investment manager(s).
Don't forget about Matching Gifts! If you work for an employer who will match your gift to WVTF, you can make your donation go farther.
