Latest Poll: Clinton Leads Trump by 15 Points in Virginia

Hailed as a swing state during the past two presidential elections, Virginia looks to be solidly in the blue this time around. A poll out this weekend gives Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton a 15-point lead over rival Donald Trump.

According to the numbers released Sunday from Christopher Newport University, among likely voters, Clinton now leads Trump 44 to 29. Clinton’s largest margins come in Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Hampton Roads.

This latest survey was done after the most recent presidential debate. According to CNU’s polls, support for Trump among the state’s Republican-voters has dropped by 10 points in the past three weeks.

Clinton isn’t only benefiting from Trump’s downslide though. Libertarian Gary Johnson, who was once polling at 15-percent in Virginia, is now down to 11-percent.

The poll surveyed 809 likely Virginia voters and has a margin of error of 3.6-percent.

Monday is the final day to register to vote in Virginia.
