81 Percent of Virginia Schools Fully Accredited

Virginia’s students seem to be getting better at standardized tests.

81-percent of the state’s schools are now fully accredited, an improvement on last year by 3-percent.

Virginia’s Department of Education released the latest info Wednesday,  based on last year’s Standards of Learning tests.

29 schools have had their accreditation denied — including seven in Newport News, six in Norfolk, and another seven in Richmond. Another 157 schools are partially accredited.

You can find specifics about your area's schools here.

These numbers come one week after the Washington Post reports a school in Northern Virginia allegedly tried to inflate their pass rate by encouraging certain students to opt out of the SOL’s.
