Bike the US for MS

The weather this week has been perfect for a bike ride and some Virginians are taking full advantage.

They're riding bicycles from Williamsburg to Blacksburg -- and on to San Francisco.

Don Fraser is a Blacksburg resident whose mother has multiple sclerosis, so three years ago, he organized the first Bike the US for MS to raise money for patient care and research.  This year, 22 people will make the 3,900 mile trek – and another 18 will go at least part of the way.

In Charlottesville, they presented a $50,000 check to Dr. Myla Goldman, with the UVA Neurology Clinic where hundreds of MS patients get care.

The cyclists will do more climbing in Virginia than in any other state on the trans America Trail, which runs from Yorktown to Astoria, Oregon, but the riders were up for the challenge and knocked out by the scenery.

The group hopes to arrive in San Francisco on August 1st.
