UPDATE: Missing Roanoke County Children Found

Virginia State Police

Three children missing from Roanoke County have been located.

Update #2: A Roanoke County spokeswoman says the three missing children have been found in South Carolina, along with their mother.

Update #1: Roanoke County police sayt the children's father, John Allison, turned himself in.  The children and their mother, Ruby Allison are still missing.

Here is the updated information from Roanoke County police:

On April 21, the Roanoke County Police Department was contacted by the Roanoke County Department of Social Services for assistance with serving a child removal order in North Roanoke County.

• Social Services personnel attempted to serve the order on John Allison, 34, the father of the children
• The order assigns custody of Emma Allison, Cameron Allison, and Colin Allison to the DSS
• Mr. Allison refused to reveal the location of the children or arrange for them to be turned over to DSS

Concerned that the parents may be taking steps to remove the children from the state, felony abduction warrants were obtained for John Allison and Ruby Allison, 35 (Emma and Colin’s mother and Cameron’s step mother).

An Amber Alert was issued last night for the children and law enforcement agencies across the eastern half of the United States have been alerted.

At shortly after 10 am this morning, John Allison turned himself in to Roanoke County Police at his attorney’s office (Aaron Houchens in Salem). He did not have the children and, at this point, has not assisted in locating them.

We continue to search for Ruby Allison, the mother of the children, as well as Emma, Cameron, and Colin.

Based on the arrest of Mr. Allison, we are focusing on the maroon Chevy Suburban with VA tag VVU-3796, which may be operated by Ruby Allison. The amber alert is being updated to reflect this.

We are receiving assistance from a variety of law enforcement agencies including the Virginia State Police, United States Marshals Service, FBI, Roanoke Police Dept., Danville Police Dept., Franklin County Sheriff, and Smyth County Sheriff. We thank them for supporting our efforts to locate Emma, Cameron, and Colin.
