Virginia's LG Makes Case for Dems Across the Country

Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor may not be up for election this year, but that hasn’t stopped him from hitting the campaign trail.

So far this election season Virginia’s Democratic Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax has traveled to Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia and Florida.

“I literally just got back from Hawaii, please pity me,” joked Fairfax on a call with reporters Friday.

As chairman of the newly formed Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association, Fairfax has been campaigning across the country.

A lawyer from Northern Virginia, he won his own election last year, during a wave of Democratic victories in the Commonwealth. At the time he said the state would be the match that sparked a progressive wildfire.

“And that’s exactly what’s happening. And I’m proud as DLGA chair to be continuing to bring that kind of progress to the nation,” said Fairfax.

Before Election Day Fairfax will hit up New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado.

He says he doesn’t think his vocal campaign season will have any influence on his duty to lead Virginia’s Senate this upcoming legislative session.
