Following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling upholding a Virginia ban on uranium mining, reporter Sandy Hausman spoke with Cale Jaffe, assistant professor of law at the University of Virginia and Director of the Environmental and Regulatory Law Clinic there, and Mark Sabath, senior attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center.

The Supreme Court sided with the state of Virginia on Monday, finding nothing improper about its decades-old ban on mining radioactive uranium.

The owners of a huge deposit of uranium in Pittsylvania County want to mine it. But a long-standing Virginia ban on the process is stopping them.

On November 5th, they'll ask the United States Supreme Court to decide if that ban is constitutional.

A lawsuit that could clear the way for a uranium mine to open in Southside Virginia will likely be argued early next year in Wise County.
