The newest exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond takes experiential art to a new level. The museum has recreated a famous painting of a hotel room, where guests can actually spend a night.

A statue modeled after a Confederate monument in Virginia was unveiled in Times Square Friday. It’s the same size and shape as the J.E.B. Stuart Monument in downtown Richmond, but astride the horse is a black man in a hoodie.  

It’s been 65 years since the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts did something no other museum in the world had tried – putting part of its collection on board a truck so people in distant communities could see original paintings and other works of art.  Now, the museum is poised to start the engine on Artmobile 2.0.

Virginia’s Museum of Fine Arts unveiled its newest exhibit this weekend. It’s a big get for the VMFA. The museum is one of only 7 stops for this particular collection, and the only in the southeast.
