Charlottesville police and the FBI report an arrest in the case of that missing UVA student.  Jesse Matthew, wanted for abduction with intent to defile, was picked up in Texas.

The Bolivar Peninsula is a remote, 32-mile stretch of land bounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay.  It’s accessible by car from Beaumont, Texas, by ferry from Galveston, and T.J. Auld – a reporter for that city’s Daily News – says it’s a popular destination for fugitives.

Having someone wanted in relation to a national case and showing up down here actually is not that unusual.  Galveston and Galveston County tend to be kind of an end point for a lot of these things given the transient population because of tourism and the like down in this area.

Matthew was reportedly  found in a tent  on the beach, next to his parked car around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. He did not resist arrest.  Charlottesville police will make the 1,300-mile trip to retrieve him from the Galveston County Jail.  Their search for Hannah Graham continues.
