The mountains regions of South Western Virginia were settled by a large number of Scottish, English and Irish people.  Today, their stories and songs can still be heard -in the mountains and ridges of this area - and at this weekend’s 18th annual Radford Highlanders Festival. The festival not only celebrates ancient traditions, but also offers evidence that Celtic Culture is alive and well in American society and continues to evolve today.

Admission to the The Radford Highlanders Festival is free.  It’s a joint project of Radford University and the City of Radford.

We had help with this story from John Benfield of WVRU.
