Mother's Day R&B Jam: A Tribute to Marvin Gaye & Teddy Pendergrass At The Tin Pan

Mother's Day R&B Jam: A Tribute to Marvin Gaye & Teddy Pendergrass At The Tin Pan

Soul singer Andre Jackson shines a well-deserved spotlight on the songbook of the late great R&B powerhouse Teddy Pendergrass. As the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Pendergrass belted out the classic ‘70s track "If You Don’t Know Me By Now" and the hits kept on coming in the years of solo work that followed. The singer’s forceful, throaty vocals bowled over audiences on cuts like “Only You” and “Turn Off the Lights.” But Pendergrass could also keep it silky smooth with songs like “Close the Door,” “Love TKO” and “Joy.” Jackson and tribute hostess Jean Carne (“Closer Than Close”) will guide you through these and many more of Pendergrass’ decade-spanning, multi-platinum hits.
