The program opens with Gabriel Faure’s lyrical and flowing Piano Trio in D Minor, Opus 120. Faure completed this trio in 1923, and it embodies the soulful character of late romantic music.
Antonin Dvorak’s Piano Trio No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 26 features beautiful melodies as well as Czech folk idioms foreshadowing his later Slavonic Dances.
