Floyd’s Mountain Valor Fest recognizes those lost on 9/11, GWOT
Floyd County, Virginia - Mountain Valor Veteran Services is recognizing Patriots Day in a big way in Floyd County, VA.
Mountain Valor Fest, hosted at the veteran-owned campground Crooked Mountain, is part veteran resource fair, part family event, and most importantly, an opportunity to recognize those lost on 9/11 and through the war that followed.
“As a country, we promised to never forget the events of Sept 11, 2001,” said Katt Whittenberger, founder of Mountain Valor Veteran Services. “This event is a chance for everyone to gather and honor those sacrifices.”
The official ceremony begins at 4 p.m. The rest of the event features local bands, area veteran resources, a Veteran Affairs outreach team, food trucks, kid activities, and military equipment displays. There is no entry fee for the event.
This event is rain or shine, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sept. 7. Coordinators are still accepting vendor applications and volunteer groups who would like to support this unique event, and can be reached at mountainvalorvets@gmail.com.
