Virginia Republicans have advanced a plan to redraw a third of Virginia’s state house districts. But lawmakers are still a long way off from agreeing on a final solution and fulfilling a court order.

Lawmakers met in Richmond Thursday to try to fix district maps for the state legislature. The maps have been deemed unconstitutional by a federal court.

Lawmakers managed to get little done so far, though.

Lawmakers are back in Richmond this week for a special session on redistricting. And, for one lawmaker, it’s the last hurrah.

State lawmakers will head back to Richmond August 30th for yet another special session. Politics watchers don’t expect anything groundbreaking to happen anytime soon.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has scheduled a special session of the General Assembly so lawmakers can comply with a court order to redraw the state's legislative map.
