After its last president left for Old Dominion University back in June, Radford University has been conducting a national search to fill the role.
During his introductory press conference, Bret Danilowicz joked about his last name.

“To say Radford, that’s easy. Highlander, not so bad. Danilowicz? Well… I get it wrong sometimes,” Danilowicz explained.
He comes to Radford after most recently serving at Florida Atlantic University. Danilowicz applauded RU for its uniqueness – stating it has the look and feel of a private university at a public institution cost.
He’s excited to connect with students in a way that ensures their success – which has been a key focus during his career. He also wants to foster relationships with the surrounding community.
“My hope is that we can specifically add programs and types of programs – internships, externships, co-ops for students – to provide companies an incentive to potentially move to the Radford area or New River Valley," he said. "It’s all good.”
On July 1st, Danilowicz will become only the eighth president in the school's more than 100-year history.
