Virginia Sending National Guard and State Police to Washington DC

Virginia’s governor has declared a state of emergency because of the riot in Washington.  And he’s ordered a curfew in Alexandria and Arlington in Northern Virginia.

Virginia National Guard soldiers and state police are being sent to assist Washington D. C. police.

Governor Ralph Northam said they’re being sent after a request for help from the mayor of Washington.

Meanwhile, Virginia’s members of Congress have been witness to today’s mob at the U. S. Capitol.

Representative Donald McEachin tweeted that he is safe.  He then added “Evil always raises hell before it is cast out. We will pass this test. Democracy will prevail.”

There have also been messages from Virginia Republican Congressmen, all of whom said they planned to support the objections to the certification.  Morgan Griffith tweeted the capitol “should not be subject to break-ins and violence. Its occupiers must leave and face justice, and the business of the people must continue.”
