Panel Questions

PETER SAGAL, HOST:

Right now, panel, time for you to answer some questions about this week's news. But first, it is time for a game we like to call...

BILL KURTIS: The Trump Dump.

(LAUGHTER, APPLAUSE)

SAGAL: Sometimes, there's enough Trump news in just one week to fill even the most adult of diapers.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: So we like to cover as many as we can - many Trump items as we can - rapid fire with true-or-false questions for our panel. Are you guys ready to do this? Rapid fire. Here we go. Tom, true or false? During his visit to Asia, Donald Trump told Shinzo Abe he, quote, "never knew we had so many countries."

TOM BODETT: True.

SAGAL: Yes.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: Roxanne, true or false? Energy Secretary Rick Perry said sexual assault could be prevented if we simply use more fossil fuels to keep the lights on.

ROXANNE ROBERTS: That, in fact, is entirely true.

SAGAL: That is true. Yeah.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: Tom, true or false? Trump appointed a man whose previous job was cabana attendant at Westchester Country Club to the Agriculture Department.

BODETT: (Laughter) This is also true.

SAGAL: Yes, it is.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: P.J., true or false? Trump appointed a man whose previous job was manager at Meineke Auto Repair in New Hampshire to the Transportation Department.

P.J. O'ROURKE: Also true.

SAGAL: No, it's false. The Meineke manager was appointed to the Energy Department.

(LAUGHTER)

O'ROURKE: Peter. Peter.

SAGAL: You've got to pay attention. Roxanne, true or false? A new appointee to the EPA Scientific Advisory Board has stated that air in the United States was, quote, "too clean for optimum health."

ROBERTS: That is entirely true.

SAGAL: Yes, it is.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: True or false, Tom? Trump's pick to lead a State Department office of female empowerment strongly criticized major Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein.

BODETT: False.

SAGAL: That's right.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: She strongly criticized the movie "Frozen" for not having enough men in it.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: P.J., true or false? A photo went viral on Twitter after it seemed to show Trump's face revealed in a water stain on the wall of a church.

O'ROURKE: I've got to say true.

SAGAL: No, it was false.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: The photo that went viral showed Trump's face on a cyst on the inside of a dog's ear.

(LAUGHTER)

O'ROURKE: Well, I mean...

SAGAL: And you've got to look this up. It's uncanny.

(LAUGHTER)

O'ROURKE: That is a better place for it.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE")

PAUL MCCARTNEY: (Singing) I've just seen a face. I can't forget the time or place where we just met. She's just the girl for me, and I want all the world to see we've met.

SAGAL: Coming up, our panelists make your birthday wishes come true. It's our Bluff the Listener game. Call 1-888-WAITWAIT to play. We'll be back in a minute with more of WAIT WAIT... DON'T TELL ME from NPR. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
