17th Chatham Concert Series begins with beloved violin concertos of the romantic period!
The 17th concert season will kick off at 3:30 p.m. this Sunday, October 6th with two of the most beloved violin concertos of the romantic period. Violinist Kevin Matheson will perform Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64 (1844) and Tchaikovsky’s Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 (1878). Longtime Hollins University piano faculty, Melia Garber, will play the piano reduction of the orchestral accompaniment. Rarely are the two concertos performed in the same program because both works are so technically demanding.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted to support the series. The Chatham Concert Series is sponsored by Chatham First, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Appalachian Dream, Inc., Chatham Arts, Chatham Hall, Davenport Energy, First Piedmont, Farmhouse Butchery, Lyford Piano Works and La Chaumière Bed and Breakfast.
