Preparing and Maintaining Garden Soil

At 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, the Piedmont Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a free Garden Basics presentation on “Preparing and Maintaining Garden Soil for Asters to Zucchinis.” This in-person program will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1118 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville. Space is limited. To reserve a seat, register at https://piedmontmastergardeners.org/events/. Registration closes 5 p.m. May 19.
Participants will learn the characteristics of soil that promote plant growth, the importance of soil testing, and the use of mulch and cover crops to improve and maintain the fertility of garden soils. Garden Basics is a partnership with Bread and Roses ministry at Trinity Church.
