“Soft Landings: Add Life Under Trees,” Spring Lecture by Shannon Currey
On April 7, the Piedmont Master Gardeners and The Center at Belvedere will co-host a free Spring Lecture by gardening educator Shannon Currey. Titled “Soft Landings: Add Life Under Trees,” her talk will explain how establishing native plant habitats under trees can help butterflies, moths and other beneficial insects complete lifecycles that started in the trees above. The program begins at 4:30 p.m. with an open house in The Center’s Rose and Pollinator Demonstration Gardens followed by her presentation at 5:30 p.m. The lecture is open to all. To register, visit https://thecentercville.org/calendar/event/141530/3. Highly respected in the plant industry, Currey is director of education and outreach at Izel Native Plants and is a member of the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program Scientific Committee.
