What Do You Do When the Life Rafts are Burning?
It’s not the “outside” world that needs healing. That is merely a reflection of
our own minds. Reconciliation requires an individual fearlessness to move
beyond the story in order to create a new reality. The Buddha would often
share stories with his closest disciples beginning with “When I was just an
unenlightened Bodhisattva….”
This tells us two things: 1) we can aspire to be a bodhisattva even with
whatever feelings we are experiencing right now, and 2) that we cultivate
ourselves by saving others.
This is our true practice. What do you do when the life rafts are burning?
