The League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area is bringing new opportunities for community voices to be heard and for voters to prepare for the upcoming election.
From late September through October, the League will host a series of Listening Tables across Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson counties. Listening Tables are small, informal gatherings that bring community members and candidates together—not for debates, but for conversations. These events give residents the chance to share what matters most in their daily lives and allow candidates to listen directly, in advance of the November 4th election.
One of these Listening Tables will be held for Albemarle County residents in the Rio and Jack Jouett Voting Districts to meet with their local candidates seeking election. The event will be held at the Northside Library on Tuesday, October 28th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Add Your Voice at the Table—because democracy works best when everyone is heard! For more information and event updates, visit https://www.lwv-cva.org.

Calling all tree huggers, forest friends, and book worms! If you are interested in connecting with fellow nature-lovers over a good book, join us for Highland’s Green Gathering Book Club.
Who would have guessed that tiny organisms beneath the surface of the soil are crucial to the survival of life on this planet? This month we’ll take inspiration from Merlin Sheldrake’s Entangled Life and talk all about fungi, the strange and amazing life forms that continue to fascinate and inspire researchers.
This event is free and open to the public. Designed for participants aged 12 and up. Participants will meet at the Highland Museum Shop and walk as a group to our comfy conference room for the book club meeting.
Entangled Life can be purchased through your local bookstore or via Amazon. Want to be extra green? Check out the book from your local library branch!
