According to campaign finance reports, a political action committee paid the bill for crisis communications after a racist photo was discovered on Governor Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook page.

The Way Ahead is Governor Northam’s political action committee. It's funded by private and corporate donations. According to campaign finance reports released Monday, the PAC paid IR Media just over $30,000 dollars in February.

It’s previously been reported that Northam hired the Washington-based crisis management firm in the immediate aftermath of the scandal. How much he paid and who footed the bill was unknown until now.

A spokeswoman for the Governor confirms the company provided communications consultation. She adds that the governor’s team is no longer paying for outside help.
