State Basketball Tournaments Cancelled in Light of COVID-19 Situation

In light of the on-going situation with COVID-19, the Virginia High School League has cancelled state basketball tournaments. They were scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Richmond.

The announcement comes after the city of Richmond recommended all large events either be cancelled or postponed. City officials said the move was made in the interest of public health and out of an abundance of caution.

The VHSL was originally planning to play the games Friday and Saturday with only the teams and their immediately families in attendance. Now that the championship games for Classes 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been cancelled, the participating teams will be named co-champions.
