This in-person breast cancer support group is open to survivors living in or around Parksley and Onancock, VA and the greater Accomack County, including Pocomoke. Join the VMHC for the third annual Conrad M. Hall Symposium for Virginia History, an event where historians, practitioners, and members of the public will gather to explore our shared past.
Beginning the day will be a special keynote panel featuring leading scholars of the American Revolution, Drs. Alan Taylor, Karin Wulf, and Sarah McCartney, in a conversation about the meaning of the United States 250th and the participants’ contributions to the VMHC’s exhibition Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation. Dr. Alan Taylor is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Chair (Emeritus) at the University of Virginia. Dr. Karin Wulf serves as the Beatrice and Julio Mario Santo Domingo Director and Librarian of Brown University's John Carter Brown Library and formerly directed the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture at the College of William & Mary. Dr. Sarah McCartney is an Assistant Teaching Professor with the College of William & Mary's National Institute of American History & Democracy Collegiate Program.
Guests will then have the opportunity to hear from 16 panels comprising more than 50 experts representing more than 20 colleges, universities, and public history institutions from across the Commonwealth and nation during a full day of engaging presentations that highlight groundbreaking research into Virginia history around the theme of "Revolution."
In addition to compelling panel discussions, guests will have access to tailored museum experiences that highlight revolutions in Virginia and an exhibitor hall featuring historical organizations from across the state. Ending the day will be a reception for guests and speakers to mingle and reflect on the day’s learning.
Tickets to the event include museum admission, the keynote lecture, all panel discussions, and an evening reception. Event runs from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm with a reception to follow.

Everyone’s favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, will be in Charlottesville, VA to deliver a talk titled “Delusions of Space Enthusiasts.” The NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal recipient; graduate of Harvard University and Columbia University; and holder of 21 honorary doctoral degrees will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at John Paul Jones Arena.
