Wintergreen audiences are familiar with Aaron Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring, but this giant of the American music scene wrote so much more! Learn about two works featured during the Festival, and get a glimpse into the breadth of this 20th century giant.
Join guest conductor Tamara Dworetz and the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra for an evening of lyricism, energy, and classical brilliance. Our very own Elisabeth Adkins will shine in Ralph Vaughan Williams’ transcendent The Lark Ascending, followed by Aaron Copland’s playful Music for the Theatre. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, showcasing charm, wit, and youthful spirit. These three composers are favorites of the Wintergreen Music community—come find out why! Join Wintergreen Music Festival Artists Kelly Mozeik (oboe) and Jacob Wilder (horn) as they chat about Michael Daugherty’s Songs of the Open Road, a piece about four iconic American roadways, including our own Blue Ridge Parkway!
Wintergreen Music partners with The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen in this first of two special event collaborations. Your hike will begin as Nature Foundation guides, Artistic Director Erin Freeman, and Festival Artists Tim Hudson (trumpet) and Myles Blakemore (trombone) connect us with the bold and brilliant aspects of our natural Mountain landscape.
