'A Gathering for the Food Curious' This Weekend in Richmond

Richmond is gearing up for the third annual 'Fire, Flour and Fork' food festival.

The four-day food and rink extravaganza brings together Virginia products, produce, and chefs for more than 40 events in and around Richmond.

Things kick off Thursday, and run through Sunday. Maureen Egan is a founder and organizer.

"We really want everyone to know it is many intimate events," Egan says. "Even at our larger scale events you can go up and meet the chefs, talk with them, see them demoing, talk with the wineries. It’s not just hold your glass out, have it filled and drink. We want interaction.”

Billed as a “gathering for the food curious” events include wine tastings, cooking classes, special dinners, and farm tours.

"We just want to show off the bounty of Virginia, and in particular the Richmond area, because I think people — a lot of people —are still a little bit unaware of that," Egan says.

Tickets are being sold to individual events, with a share going to local non-profits.
