After Delay in Reporting, Virginia COVID-19 Cases Top 10,000

The Department of Health says Virginia has 10,266 cases of COVID-19.  The update was delayed most of the day due to a system error.

The information is usually updated on the health department's website before 10:00 a.m. each day. Wednesday's update was not posted until about 5:00 p.m.

When it was posted, the data showed 10,266 cases in the state, an increase of 636 from the day before. 25 more deaths were reported, raising the toll to 349.  1,659 Virginians have been hospitalized for the illness and 60,778 tests have been conducted.

Governor Ralph Northam's tri-weekly COVID-19 news conference was canceled Wednesday because of the General Assembly session at the capitol.  The next news conference is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 p.m.
