Virginia Tech to Resume In-Person Classes This Fall

Virginia Tech President Tim Sands has outlined the plan for a limited return to the classroom this fall, in Blacksburg and other campuses.

President Sands is calling it a blend of in-person and online teaching and learning in a manner that preserves valuable on-campus experiences and engagement while also reducing the potential for exposure to the coronavirus for those who are most vulnerable.

Fall semester begins August 24th and will end December 16th.  The goal, to guard against a potential second wave of coronavirus as temperatures drop. Classes will be given online after the Thanksgiving break.

Sands points out, plans will continue to evolve over the summer. The university will hold a series of Town Halls to keep people updated.

Tech has redesigned its website with the plan for fall semester and beyond -- with an eye toward grappling with the unknowns of COVID-19
