NCAA 2016: Virginia Loses to Syracuse

The Virginia Cavaliers, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Regional, were trying to clinch their first appearance in the Final Four since 1984.  But tenth-seeded Syracuse prevented that from happening.

The Virginia Cavaliers basketball team, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest, will tip off at 7:10 tonight  against Iowa State at Chicago’s United Center.  The UVA basketball hopes to follow the footsteps of other successful programs at school.

In the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the Virginia Cavaliers play Iowa State tonight at United Center in Chicago.  It follows the first game of the night between Syracuse and Gonzaga and is expected to start around ten o’clock.  Tonight’s game in Chicago brings back memories as an NBA player for UVA coach Tony Bennett.

Virginia has become the first state to legalize daily fantasy sports -- the flipside? The state will also now regulate the quickly growing business.

Turns out, fantasy sports go way beyond football...

Brendan Dwyer is an associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University -- he’s studied fantasy sports for almost a decade. Experts estimate one in 9 Americans play fantasy sports.

People who struggle with addiction often turn to Alcoholics Anonymous to help them kick the habit, but a Virginia man is touting another cure – bowling.  Bob Perry is the subject of a new book that chronicles his trip to the top of the nation’s competitive bowling mountain, his literal fall into the gutter and his remarkable return to the sport.  Sandy Hausman spoke with him at the Kegler Lanes in Charlottesville.
