The sister of an unarmed man shot by Richmond Police back in May says his toxicology report has come back clean, reaffirming her belief that he was having a mental health crisis when he was killed.
Marcus David Peters’ sister, Princess Blanding, says she’s received her brother’s toxicology and autopsy reports from the Medical Examiner earlier this week. The information hasn’t been released publicly, so it couldn’t be confirmed.
“What, you know, we hear people saying ‘Oh Marcus must have been on flakka, you know — and a whole bunch of other craziness. And that’s what they wanted people to think. You know he had to be strung out on some drugs. None detected. Ok? So he had a mental health crisis," she said.
Peters was a teacher. He was shot after he crashed his car and ran naked unto the highway. One officer was on the scene and Peters charged at him. The officer shot him after a taser didn’t work. Peters later died at the hospital.
The police department finished their internal investigation of the shooting earlier this week. That report is now with the Commonwealth’s Attorney. His office will decide whether to charge the officer responsible with a crime.
