Virginia voters had two ballot questions to consider in this election. They rejected the so called, “Right to Work” Amendment.
Currently, employers here cannot require workers to join a union. Had it passed, the measure would have added a clause to the state constitution, making it more difficult to alter that protection in the future. Labor advocates hailed the ‘no’ vote as a win for workers and a loss for corporate interests.

Voters did approve a second constitutional amendment though. That amendment allows localities to exempt surviving spouses of emergency, military and law enforcement personnel, killed in the line of duty, from taxation of their primary residences.
