Governor Ralph Northam is slowly and quietly getting out and about. Hist latest public appearance was in Richmond Tuesday.
At a hotel downtown, just a couple blocks away from the capitol, Governor Northam was the headliner at an agricultural trade conference conference. His 13 minute speech did not wander off topic.
Northam slipped in and out of the building quickly. He did not stop to speak to reporters.
Before the blackface scandal, the Governor had a relatively busy public schedule, published each week in advance. Tuesday’s speaking engagement, plus one outside Charlottesville on Monday, were the first events on that calendar in a month.
Plans to visit a historically black university were cancelled last month after students objected. The Governor did attend a reception held by the Richmond Slave Trail Commission last week, although that visit wasn’t announced beforehand.
