Northern Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly died Wednesday morning. He was 75 years old.
Connolly had been battling cancer and recently announced he would not run for another term. A statement from his family says he died Wednesday morning at his home, surrounded by family.
Gerry Connolly was elected to the House of Representatives in 2008. He represented Virginia's 11th district, consisting of precincts in Fairfax County and Fairfax City. Prior to his election to Congress, Connolly was a Fairfax County supervisor.
