Health officials are making one final plea for people to follow recommendations about Thanksgiving gatherings with people outside your household.

It was just over a hundred years ago that this country found itself in the midst of a global pandemic that claimed 50 million lives.  Today, historians report some surprising similarities in how the disease spread, and how people in Virginia responded. 


The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Roanoke area continues to jump. And health officials fear it will get even higher in the weeks after Thanksgiving.
