The Albemarle County Fair is scheduled from Thursday, July 31 through Saturday, August 2 on the grounds of Highland. Fair hours are 4:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, and 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2. Tickets can be purchased at the door (cash or card) and are $5 per person and free for children under 6 years of age.
This fun and festive “Old-Time Country Fair” will be a three-day agricultural celebration, complete with exhibits, baked goods, crafts, family entertainment, events, livestock, and grand old-time country fun. Fair goers will also enjoy a number of demonstrations of historic and cultural significance, including wool spinners and a blacksmith.
Join members of the VMHC education team for thirty-minute highlight tours as they offer you an introduction to our newest exhibition, Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation.

Do I need to register for this event? Yes! Registration is required due to tour popularity.Do I need to purchase a Daily Admission Ticket?While the tour is free, daily admisison is required, but when you register below, you will be purchasing a Daily Admission Ticket in addition to signing up for the tour so there is no need to add another ticket to your cart. After the tour, you can will have access to all museum galleries. Can I still visit the exhibition is the tour is sold out?If the tour is sold out, you are still welcome to purchase Daily Musuem Admission and tour the exhibition on your own. About the Artist:TJ (Tanael Joachim) is a Haitian born stand-up comedian who is currently based in New York City. TJ has a very laid back, smooth, and conversational style. He jokes about race, society’s idiosyncrasies, and the inherent contrast between life in Haiti and America. He has made appearances on Gotham Comedy Live (AXS TV) and Good Day New York (FOX).TJ is a paid regular at the Comedy Cellar and Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. He has performed all over the world. He recently returned from a small European tour where he performed in English and French.He has opened for Colin Quinn, Janelle James, Maria Bamford and Sean Patton. He has also been a featured performer at numerous festivals like Netflix Is A Joke Festival, SF Sketchfest and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival.TJ is also an Op-Ed contributor for The New York Times. About the Artist: Known by fans across the country for his numerous national television appearances, his yearly national arena tour appearances and for headlining the nation’s hottest comedy clubs, Don “DC” Curry is probably most widely recognized for his comedic acting role as the zany “Uncle Elroy” on the urban classics, “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next.” He’s currently wrapping up production on season one of his own mock-reality show, “Nappi Valley,” about the zany mis-adventures of DC hiring some of his not-as-busy comedian friends to turn in their microphones for rakes and shovels and do chores around his farm.
