Join us at the Floyd Event Center (188 EcoVillage Trail) on Sunday, November 8th, 2026 at 12:00 PM for a Rhythm & Repertoire workshop with Rachel Eddy.

Come and learn 2-3 waltzes with Rachell! ALL STRINGED INSTRUMENTS WELCOME!!!

TICKETS: $35 ($30 for Step-A-Tune Camp Participants)
Workshop is 90 minutes in length, and designed for intermediate and advanced players on any string instrument.

After the workshop join the Old Time Jam at The Floyd Country Store at 1:30PM

A minimum of 4 participants is required, so we encourage you to sign up in advance!

A native of West Virginia now based in Washington, D.C., Rachel is celebrated worldwide for their emotionally resonant performances and thoughtful, inclusive teaching style. With deep roots in Appalachian music and a multi-instrumental mastery of fiddle, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, Rachel brings both tradition and innovation to every note. Whether performing solo or with ensembles like the Ken and Brad Kolodner Quartet or The Early Mays, Rachel’s passion for community shines through. They have taught at leading programs including Augusta Heritage Center, Sore Fingers, and Nashville Fiddle and Banjo Camp, guiding students of all levels toward greater connection with their instruments and creativity.

Marks of Memory examines time, data, ancestry, and personal experience through the work of three contemporary artists—Veronica Jackson, Annette Lawrence, and LaRissa Rogers—who question what stories get told, who gets remembered, and what data gets counted and recorded. Highlighting printmaking and patterning as physical processes and systems of communication, this exhibition explores how personal and collective histories are remembered, preserved, and disseminated.

After the death of his long-estranged father, Ethan returns to the tiny hometown he once escaped—only to find himself face to face with the only family he has left: his sharp-tongued, fiercely independent aunt. While cleaning up years of a failing family, the two are forced to confront old pain, unfinished conversations, and the orbit that keeps pulling them back to a place they want to leave.

At its core, Little Bear Ridge Road is a deeply human story about distance and return, silence and understanding, and the complicated ways families try—and sometimes struggle—to show up for each other, even when words fall short.

Grace, a fiercely independent 90-year-old with terminal cancer, checks herself out of the hospital to spend her final days at her rustic cabin home nestled deep in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. Glorie, a Harvard MBA, is searching for a new purpose in her life and hoping to find peace in Appalachia, far from the demands of New York City. She volunteers for her local hospice program. Her first client is Grace. What begins as the hilarious collision of two opposite cultures and generations turns into a rich and abiding friendship, in which each woman finds her home. Filled with humor, heart and hope, Grace and Glorie is a celebration of the transformative power of human connection, and a tribute to the strength and resilience of women and their friendships at any age. Live Arts presents COME FROM AWAY, October 23rd - November 15th. The award-winning, heartfelt true story is set in Gander, Newfoundland, where 38 planes were diverted one fateful Tuesday morning in September 2001. Mallory Zondag, award-winning artist and educator living in New York, uses fiber arts and sculpture to explore the natural world and how it relates to the physical body and the human experience.

She explores deeply personal and connective universal stories through the meditative and hands-on practices of wet felting, weaving, sculpting, and stitching, seeking to bring the ephemeral into physical being. 

This exhibition of work includes a site-specific installation at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum, which was created using hand felted wool, wax, fibers, fabrics and objects both found and recycled. 

Mallory Zondag: Transmissions from the Anthropocene, on view at the museum from July 30 - December 5, will be accompanied by an artist lecture and a series of community workshops in the Roanoke Valley.
